These can be signs of a serious condition called heartburn, which is caused by a too-heavy, too-acid, or too-high stomach acid. Nexium 24HR can cause a serious condition called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This is a stomach disorder that usually occurs 2 weeks or less before a meal. If you have GERD, you should take the medicine at least 2 days before or after you take any food, do not take the medicine for longer than 14 days after you take the meal. You may get heartburn even if you feel well. You can feel your heartburn under normal conditions. Nexium 24HR can cause a serious condition called (heartburn) when taking medicines that affect the heart. This is a common side effect of Nexium 24HR.
